JPT vocabulary by score band

The JPT (Japanese Proficiency Test) is widely used in Korea for academic credit, university entrance, and employment screening, especially for jobs requiring business Japanese. Unlike JLPT, JPT scores are reported on a continuous scale (up to 990), and the vocabulary you need depends on your target score band.

This module groups core vocabulary by score band — for example, words that frequently appear in mid-range tests (around 600 points), high-range tests (around 800), and the very top tier (900+). Higher bands include more business and formal expressions, complex Kanji compounds, and idiomatic phrasing.

If you already have JLPT N3 or higher, the JPT module is a great way to specialize in business Japanese vocabulary that JLPT does not directly cover. Combine it with daily reading of Japanese news headlines for the best results.

The full JPT module spans the 450 / 600 / 800 / 900 score bands, with progressively more advanced business and academic vocabulary.
